Women's Leadership Council Volunteer Opportunities

Group Project Title: Kindergarten Readiness Calendar Sponsorship
Number needed: 4 for approximately 2 hours each
Volunteers needed to call upon companies offering opportunities to underwrite the Kindergarten Readiness Calendar and Workbook. Over 50,000 calendars and 20,000 workbooks are distributed throughout Lake County offering excellent exposure to company’s client base. Sponsorship donations support WLC’s Kindergarten Club Kit program.
Group Project Title: Kindergarten Club Kits
Number needed: 3 for 4 hours each
Volunteers needed to review and improve contents for quarterly packets as needed and to solicit for items to supplement packet content. Volunteers need to assist with assembling packets and soliciting incentives for families to return survey information which tracks effectiveness of contents toward improving school readiness.
Group Project Title: Youth Success Family Engagement
Number needed: 3 for 6 hours each
Volunteers needed to engage parents & children entering first grade this fall by sending quarterly mailings containing materials and items which reinforce that the parent is their child’s first teacher. Packets will also include books and/or educational items for the children. Volunteers will need to solicit for incentives for parents to return surveys.
Group Project Title: Summer School Break Packages
Number needed: 3-5 women from 5 local companies 6 month commitment, 2 hours/month
Volunteers will design and implement a program which will send educational materials to parents and children over the summer. Committee will work with school administrators as well as staff to design the program and will conduct fundraising events to pay for materials. This committee will present their programs and be recognized at our annual Be Bold Meeting and is targeted to engage younger women in the workforce who can donate at the $500.00 level and want to be involved in a meaningful 6 month activity.
Group Project Title: Community Engagement
Number needed: 3 for 2 hours each
Volunteers needed to speak to local businesses, networking groups and/or trade associations in support of UWLC Agenda for Change impact model and specifically the role WLC has in supporting the Success By 6 program.
